God Who Provides, 11/13/19, Portal Newsletter

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Phil 4:8

Recently I have been reading up on journalism. Journalism is defined as the collection and editing of news for presentation through the media according to the dictionary. We are all aware that the media these days are filled with bad news and horrific news in most cases. The media has a way of shaping the way we see things, and therefore shaping our thinking towards the culture of a region, a nation and even globally. Phil 4:8 tells us to fill our minds with whatever is true, whatever is noble, pure, right and lovely and admirable. We are told to think of things that are excellent and praiseworthy. Why? Peace follows when we focus on praiseworthy things.  Unfortunately, the media has presented to us the opposite for the last few decades. We are constantly bombarded with bad news. No wonder people are increasingly getting depressed. The apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4 to guard whatever goes in the mind.

I am blessed to reside in the City of San Gabriel, which is the birthplace of San Gabriel Valley region and the mother of Los Angeles where Hollywood, the Arts and Entertainment capital, calls home. We believe San Gabriel is the gateway to San Gabriel Valley. The gateway is where everything goes in and out. As the gateway, we are to guard whatever goes in the region especially the media airway. As we accept our huge assignment to impact our region and the world via media, we are grateful to the Holy Spirit for sending angel Gabriel to help us.  We accept the angel’s help and we align ourselves with the Holy Spirit to bring encouraging reports and turning the hearts and minds of people to God who provides resolutions to dire situation in the world through creative ways. We have a wonder working God, who never stop working on our behalf. That’s the truth. Fix our eyes on what is admirable and excellent. Peace and thanksgiving will follow.
